Partnership with Durango Nature Studies
La Boca Center for Sustainability is pleased to announce our 2nd year in partnership with Durango Nature Studies, a wonderful organization dedicated to nature, science, and environmental education. This year LBCS will again be providing our hands-on education program called "Healthy Land, Healthy People" to 5th grade classes. |
 |
Healthy Land, Healthy People
Students visit our working, sustainable farm, observing integrated growing methods, and getting a taste for fresh nutritious produce. As they learn about human and environmental issues related to food choices, students meet local farmers, ranch animals and get their hands in the soil!
How to Registar:
Teachers are welcome to register their classes on-line through the Durango Nature Studies Website, www.durangonaturestudies.org. Click on "La Boca Ranch, 5 Teachers" for instructions.
How to Volunteer:
We are currently recruiting and training volunteers to teach the Healthy Land, Healthy People program this Fall 2009. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Erin Jolley.

Farm Immersion Program with Open Sky Wilderness Therapy
This is the second year working with Open Sky Wilderness. We offer an overnight to the staff and students of Open Sky where they work on the farm and enjoy the delights of camping near the Pine River, fresh farm food, the wonderful feelings of accomplishment.

Community Volunteer and Education Program
We love volunteers and this year we are offering a more formal program so that we can better take advantage of the enthusiasm and desire of volunteers and in turn provide our volunteers with a wonderful, educational experience. Volunteer days will be held twice a week. Please email or call Gabe Eggers to find out more about this program.

Tours on Tuesdays
We enjoy very much showing and sharing our work with those that want to see it. If that is you and you would like to help support La Boca please call Gabe Eggers for costs and to set a time to see what we are doing and meet the folks that are doing it.
