2nd Annual La Boca Harvest Festival in collaboration with 4C!

What:

La Boca Center for Sustainability is collaborating with 4c for the 2nd Annual Harvest Festival for a three day, camp-out celebration of our local abundance. There will be daily live music, workshops, trade circles, and shared evening meals.  Music will include local bluegrass, reggae, hip-hop, electronica and more.  Workshops will include permaculture, mycology, food preservation, timber framing, milling, fire starting, basket weaving, plant walks, sweat lodge construction, crochet, drawing, watercolor, cold frame building, apple pressing and whatever else the community might like to share! Families and the greater four corners community are encouraged to attend the festival.  The event is supported by Durango Food Not Bombs, Culture Brothers, Durango Youth Coalition, Turtle Lake Refuge, Lightning Communications, Ska Brewery, Mandala Dyes, Nature’s Oasis and generous and talented local people of all kinds.

 

Cost:

$15 Daily and $30 All Weekend tickets available at Zia Taqueria, Animas Trading Co., and La Boca’s booth at the Durango Farmers Market.

Festival Schedule

FRIDAY: Morning: Gates open at 10am.  Workshops begin at noon.  Afternoon: Open mic and music by local bands The Assortment and The Daydreamers. Evening: Community potluck- bring a dish to share or a local ingredient to donate to the Community Kitchen.  Trade circle. 

All night Reggae Sound System including DJ Igene, DJ Reason, DJ Magic Sam, DJ Codestar and A Dub Rock Band.

 

SATURDAY: Morning: Gentle wakeup with Smiley Coyote and Satori Sounds.  Pancake Breakfast. Workshops begin after breakfast and continue throughout the day. Afternoon: Workshops. Open Mic and music by local bands Carute Aroma and Wild Mountain Thyme.  Evening: La Boca hosts a Harvest Roast.  Trade circle. 

Evening music and performance including the locals Aftergrass, Diabolical Sound Platoon, Peter Robot, ASA Fire Tribe and more.

 

SUNDAY: Morning and Afternoon: Gentle wakeup with Smiley Coyote and Satori Sounds.  Pancake Breakfast. Workshops begin after breakfast and continue until midday.  Open mic all day.   Camp clean up and gratitude!

Festival Guidelines and Information

 

Tickets

  • Weekend $30, One day $15
  • Available At Zia Taqueria, Animas Trading Co. and La Boca’s booth at the Durango Farmer’s Market

 

Dogs

  • Please do not bring dogs!  There are many animals and crops at La Boca that can be disturbed by animals.  Thank you for leaving your pets at home for the weekend.

 

Recycling, Compost, No Trash Please!

  • 4c and La Boca Center for Sustainability are committed to enjoying and empowering a healthy natural environment. Recycling and compost receptacles will be provided.  Please pack it in, pack it out.

Food

  • Friday night we will have a community potluck.  Please bring a local ingredient to donate to the kitchen or a local dish to share.  Saturday night La Boca will host a harvest roast.  Saturday and Sunday mornings a pancake breakfast will be served.  These meals will be served by suggested donation.  Lunch will be sold by vendors, or pack your own. 

 

Dishware

  • Please bring your own dishware, including a beer mug or your own growler!  As we are committed to sustainability, there will be no disposable dishes at the festival.  A dishwashing station will be provided.

 

Trade Circle

  • Trade Circles will happen Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm in the Commons Area.  We invite you to bring something(s) to trade and together we will create equal exchanges.  Things that are “homegrown, wild and handmade” are especially encouraged.

 

Camping

  • There will be three camping areas: car camping ($5 extra), family/quiet camp, and general camping.  Fires in designated fire pits only.

 

Volunteers

Workshops

  • Please contact Addison for information about individual workshops abowea@gmail.com
  • If you are interested in hosting your own workshop, there will be time and space available.  Bring your own materials, sign up upon arrival.

 

Donations

  • Donations of any kind are greatly appreciated!  Please bring a local food donation (dish or ingredient) for Friday night’s Community Potluck.  Meals will be served by suggested donation.

 

Bikes!

  • We are excited to invite you to bring your bike to the festival!  La Boca Ranch covers a large area and it might just come in handy.

 

Free Box

  • There will be a Free Box throughout the festival.  Bring something, take something.

 

Let’s Celebrate!

  • Dress up, bring your instruments, face paints, toys and joy!
