Market Gardens at La Boca Farms The mission of La Boca Farms is to provide community businesses and families high quality, local, organic (beyond certified) produce. Farmers at La Boca demonstrate and cultivate sustainable land stewardship through growing not just healthy crops, but a healthy soil. Project Managers:  Kelle Carter and Keith Bruno Growers, Kelle and Keith not only work with the local ecology of the 180 acre valley, but also work collaboratively with all other aspects of La Boca Center for Sustainability in order to make the whole site a practical demonstration of sustainable agriculture, from building techniques to growing food for local communities.  More>> Animal Husbandry at La Boca Ranch   La Boca has ongoing projects with our small animal herds. Eric and Dan integrate goats, chickens, and pigs into mutiple roles in our larger integrated farming efforts. Project Managers:  Eric Husted & Dan Verniero Animal husbandry at La Boca primarily involves chickens, goats, and pigs  for the milk, eggs, and meat that they produce. In tradition with La Boca history, La Boca maintains a herd of llamas and alpacas as well as a couple yaks. More>>    Draft Horse Farming Eric Husted brought Lorax Forestry to La Boca in the spring of 2008.  He has adapted his draft horse skills to a farm setting which has created a unique application of sustainable agricultural practices. Project Manager: Eric Husted Our intention is to resurrect and (re) develop methods of farming that are less reliable on fossil fuels. In order to accomplish this we need to more intensively cultivate an area that is larger than the gardens and is for crops that are especially suited to farming with horses. More>>   Blacksmithing and Farrier Services and Training  Farrier Services and Blacksmithing Products and Training with Dan Verniero.   Dan believes that proper care of working animals hooves, and a basic understanding of forging, are necessary skills on any sustainable farm    Project Manager: Dan Verniero Dan offers full service horseshoeing and blacksmithing in the historic blacksmith shop at La Boca Ranch.  Open forge sessions in the shop are held on a regular basis for those interested in learning the craft.
